Mission: The Demography Library supports the research and course work of graduate students, Research Associates and Research Affiliates of the Population Studies Center (PSC) and is funded by the PSC.

Collection: In addition to a comprehensive collection on basic demographic research and methodology, we have strong holdings in demographic history, economics, migration, family studies, labor issues, women, family planning, and aging and health. Geographic coverage is worldwide, with particular emphasis on Africa, Latin America and other developing regions. The collection contains over 35,000 titles in a variety of formats.

Staff: The library is managed by Nykia M. Perez, Director of Information Services, who administers the services offered by the library staff. J. Adelaide Fuller, the Information Services Assistant is responsible for managing and maintaining several library services including Circulation, Course Reserves, and Serials. In addition to the two full-time staff members of the library, we also have student employees who work for us and who can assist visitors with access to material in the collection and with basic questions.

Services: The Demography Library offers an array of services to PSC researchers. They can be categorized in the following four general areas:

• Manage the PSC Workshop Series
• Develop and present PSC Workshops
• Provide bibliographic instruction
• Develop handouts, guides and links of web resources
• Help with desktop publishing training and troubleshooting

Reference and Research Services

• Data requests and searching
• Citation verification Literature searching
• Current awareness services (TOC)
• Assist with special research projects and hiring student workers

Publishing & Dissemination Services

• Create and publish the Information Services Newsletter
• Design, manage, and maintain the PSC Website
• Create bibliographies for researchers
• Design, create and produce brochures
• Manage the PSC Working Paper Series
• Provide research project website consultation
• Obtain and interpret journal guidelines and instructions
• Provide presentation help
• Provide listservs help
• Additional dissemination services
