The PSC administrative staff provides assistance with the development and management of sponsored research projects and liaisons with the McNeil Business Office in the submission of grant applications and in post-award grant management.  The Administrative staff is trained to work with a variety of funders and electronic submission systems including: Penn’s proposal development system, PennERA, NIH Commons, FastLane (NSF), Pennsylvania Department of Health, non-governmental organizations and foundations. The core leadership monitors the postings of RFAs from NIH and similar funding sources, identifies appropriate program scientists for specific applications, and posts information about funding opportunities on the PSC website.

Pre award grant related services

  • management of a submission timeline
  • creation of required documents such as NIH, NSF, or sponsor specific biosketches
  • review of NIH Commons profile and publications
  • proofreading and copy editing 
  • creation of resource pages
  • assistance with subcontract and consortium documents
  • conversion of materials into formats required for electronic submission
  • uploading documents
  • creation of Just In Time documents

Post award grant related services

Post-award services are tailored to the needs of individual PIs and depend on the scope of the research activities undertaken and may include assistance with:

  • review of financial reports
  • set up and monitoring of subcontracts
  • creation and submission of annual progress reports  
  • help with international wire transfers
  • NIH Common PI account monitoring

 The staff also co-manages the Pilot Project competition.
