Hashim is a first year PhD student in Demography at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds an MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science from University College London (UCL) and a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He previously worked at the Population Council’s country office in Pakistan. During his time there his work primarily focused on the assessment of family planning schemes to promote modern contraceptive use in Pakistan. His research interests lie at the intersection of formal demography, health economics and rural health with a particular interest in rural health disparities in the context of rapid urbanization in Pakistan.
