Meir Yaish is Professor of Sociology at the University of Haifa. He was the first Head of Haifa Center on the Politics of Inequality. From 2010-2022 he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal Research in Social Stratification and Mobility (RSSM). Previously he was also the head of the department (2010-2015), and the Secretary/Treasurer of the ISA-RC28 on Social Stratification and Mobility (2006-2010). Meir Yaish joined the University of Haifa in 2002 after spending three years (1999-2002) as a Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford.
Meir's research interests lie with social stratification and mobility, sociology of education, and the puzzle of altruism. He has published to an international audience on these fields.
