Partnerships

The PSC maintains close collaborations with four of Penn’s schools: the Perelman School of Medicine, The Wharton School, the School of Nursing, and the School of Social Policy and Practice both through individual Research Associate appointments and Allied Centers and Initiatives.

Internal Allied Centers & Initiatives

Allied Centers include research centers (or their equivalent) with which the PSC has mutually beneficial exchange relationships. Internal Allied Centers are restricted to those that add to our primary research areas and with which we have complementary grant funding and/or shared staffing and activity space. We also have various initiatives and co-sponsor events and activities across Penn with other groups.

External Allied Centers & Initiatives

External Allied Centers are part of our effort to enhance research community access to shared resources. We have links with institutions outside of Penn around topics related to our research themes. In addition, we have partnerships with organizations globally whose research agendas align with ours and where we have strong ties and established partnerships.

Association of Population Centers

The PSC is a member of the APC

Interdisciplinary Association for Population Health Science

The PSC is a member of the IAPHS.

NICHD Centers

The services that the PSC provides have been funded by infrastructure grants awarded by the Population Dynamics Branch at Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD P2C HD044964) since 1978.

NIA Centers

Several PSC Research Associates and Allied Centers are funded in part by the NIA.

About Us

The Population Studies Center (PSC) at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) was founded in 1962 and stands as an international leader in research and training on the dynamic structure, organization, and health and well-being of human populations. The services that PSC provides have been funded by infrastructure grants awarded by the Population Dynamics Branch at Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) since 1978. The center and its associates are also supported by research grants and contracts awarded by federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation and by private foundations. Penn’s School of Arts and Sciences is the administrative home of the PSC and provides generous dedicated support to the center.
