The New Urban Agenda, adopted in October at Habitat III, outlines three components that are critical to its “effective implementation”: 1) planning and managing urban spatial development; 2) building supportive urban governance structures; and 3) developing a wide range of means for implementation, including financing mechanisms. This Perry World House workshop will convene a series of multi-stakeholder conversations that help inform and advance these topics at Penn and beyond, with a special focus on inclusivity. The workshop is framed by Perry World House’s research theme Global Shifts: Urbanization, Migration, and Demography and will inform its Global Shifts conference, April 20-21, 2017, focused on marginalization and inequality. It will be driven by the overarching question: Under what conditions does urbanization create inclusive, sustainable development?
