Adira is a third year doctoral student in Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a University of Guadalajara scholar. Adira Fierro-Villa's research seeks to understand the current condition of education in Latin American countries and the causal relationship that exists with family structures. Her more recent work titled "Family Structure and Parental Involvement in Mexico" portrays how single motherhood affects the amount of parental involvement dedicated to children. More specifically, she explains how different types of single motherhood have an impact on time spent with children. Adira contributed to the underdeveloped area of study for western societies and Latin American studies in general: single motherhood because of migration and jail in relation with children's education.
