Jiyeon Kim is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania’s Population Studies Center. As a quantitative sociologist and applied researcher, she studies job quality and gender and racial inequality in the care economy. In one line of research, she evaluates job quality of direct care occupations—personal care aides, home health aides, and nursing assistants—relative to other low-wage occupations. In another line of research, she examines how gender and race structure occupational wages, transition pathways, and secondary jobholding in the direct care workforce. Jiyeon received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
