Aashish grew up in India, around the city of Delhi. He completed a 5 year integrated masters of arts in Development Studies from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, focusing on social policy and development in India. After his studies, he worked as a research assistant to Prof. Jean Dreze in the Department of Economics, University of Allahabad, and as a research fellow at the research institute for compassionate economics, where he has worked on sanitation, health, and social inequality in India. His research interests are in social inequality (of caste, gender and age), health, demography and social policy.
