Event
There will be a special WIC GIS training course to be held on Feb 13 from 1:10 - 3:00 in the Goldstein Electronic Classroom in Van Pelt. The workshop is being held at the request of demography students who could not make the originally scheduled GIS workshop due to a class conflict.
The course is very general in nature and will mostly cover the capabilities of GIS - opening files and making simple maps, and where to get more help - but will also be tailored to demographers. If anyone has more specific interests (particular data sets like the Decennial Census or CPS, or are interested in particular GIS functions like geocoding, etc.), please let Christine Murray (who will be teaching the course) know when you RSVP and she can try to tailor a session to specific interests.
Because this is not a regularly scheduled session, if you want to attend please RSVP directly to Christine : chrmur@pobox.upenn.edu.
Also, for those of you already using GIS and who may have specific questions, please note that this semester Christine is holding open office hours for data and GIS questions on Friday afternoons, 2-4, in the Moelis Lab on the first floor of Van Pelt Library (Walnut Street side of the the building). Students should feel free to stop by with any GIS-related questions.
