Are you interested in careers beyond the tenure-track? Not sure where, how, or when to start? This workshop will focus on the job search process for jobs outside of academia. While there are many possible career paths for PhDs in the humanities and social sciences, we will discuss aspects of the job market that are widely applicable to many different industries and careers. Dr. Helen Pho from Career Services will present on the key resources, tools, and knowledge you need to start a job search outside of academia, followed by Q&A. This workshop will address the following topics for you to get started as early as this semester:

• How should PhD students prepare to apply to jobs?
• What is a reasonable timeline for applying to jobs?
• What resources do PhD students have at Penn this semester that can help them in their search?
